Once upon a time there was a nice resort !

What a fabulous sunset last night, and every one was outside chatting about it, in German, Dutch, Swiss (I know!) English and maybe I heard a little French in the distance. It's all so social and friendly.

What a sky !, perfect end to the day. (click it to see full size - works on all main pics)

Well today is different. We overlay because there is NO sun. Its cloudy and dull, but not cold, as I walk along the beach for my morning constitutional. So a slow start for all of us. Dads decide that we should take a trip out in the "Little Red Car", it's going back tomorrow. Alan said it had been over 30 years since he visited La Manga, and it would be fun to see it. So off we set, over the mountains first to Cartagena. NO Tom Tom, as they are experienced at driving in Spain now (I have ear plugs and blindfold ready for any situation that may develop !). First surprise is the City looks great, I am sure there must be some great walks around the very impressive buildings, and the docks and Marina have lots of bars and restaurants along the water front. So they have marked a page on the next visit to spend a day investigating. Friends have told them it has lots of interesting history and sights to see.

I was getting eager to see this place that dad was doing a update on, I had heard that beaches, lunch, and walks were on the list. Apparently this resort is on a long spit along the coast, and dad remembered it being upmarket, (but then his memory is not reliable, it's his age, we've had experience of his jumbled memories before !). About an hour from Priscilla and we are here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now even I know what upmarket looks like, and this is shab land, they say Blackpool wherever that is. There are of course some NEW BUILD, apartments in very trendy blocks, with more "For Sale" signs than Daultons weekly. The rest dad says is a cross between "blue rinse" "Golden girls" Miami and a derelict trailer park surrounded by water. So they were not enamoured! Also the wind is blowing. the sea on the Mediterranean side of the spit is VERY choppy, and its drizzling with rain or sea spray. I get them to pull over, I need the bathroom, and the scrub beach will do nicely.

Wish you were here ?

Nice classic architecture !

Then the first blow, to blustery for walking on the beach. Then they do a full turn and head back so NO lunch. But then it looks like no loss.

Alan says you should NEVER go back after so long and expect to feel the same about a place, and in there lifetime, the world has moved on.........

Then a funny thing happened... We just happened to be passing by Parque Mediteranee, where the Carrefour supermarket is, and "well we may as well pop in " and they get a McDonalds, as its next door.

I GET A PEE UP A PALM TREE IN THE CAR PARK.

Nice day out. (they will pay for this, watch this space!)

Tomorrow we go out for dinner, a restaurant is reopening after refurbishment, and us three have been invited, so lets hope tomorrow goes better.
